Cherry Pie Puzzle

From our discussion forum, Katie writes, Okay I'm either being brave or stupid but I'm going to attempt to make a cherry pie from scratch (except I bought pre-made crust). In other words, I need a general idea on how to prepare the cherry filling. I have about 2 lbs of Bing cherries. Any help would be appreciated!
