So, what is a Pluot?

Thursday July 24, 2003
PluotsI certainly learned something new today. While I was at the grocery store, looking for some fresh fruit, and I came upon Pluots. What is a Pluot, I wondered. It turns out it's a cross between a plum and an apricot. A Pluot tends to taste and look more like a plum, while a Plucot, another cross between plums and apricots, favors the apricot. To me, a Pluot tastes a lot like a plum, with just a hint of an apricot taste. They are slightly softer than an average plum, too. You can find out more about Pluots, Plucots, and even Apriums at Produce Petes.
