Kids need to eat breakfast. Nutrition experts have called breakfast the most important meal of the day, especially for children. It jumpstarts young bodies and minds and prepares them for the day ahead. Children who eat breakfast on a daily basis are less likely to miss class and score higher on math and reading tests. Some people tend to rush out of the house without eating breakfast but this early meal can be quick and simple to make. The easiest breakfast to prepare is ready-to-eat cereal but it is always nice to offer healthy substitutes a few times a week so that the kids won't get bored of eating the same breakfast daily. Fun substitutes like a snack mix for kids over three years of age made with oat cereal, graham snacks, peanuts and raisins offers a variety for different breakfast choices. A warm meal can also be easily prepared the night before with Bisquick, shredded cheese, eggs and cooked sausage. This can be popped into the oven while you shower and dress. We all want our children to do well in school. So instead of making breakfast a dash-out-the-door afterthought, a well-planned first meal is an excellent way to give them a great headstart on the day. --------------- Produced for General Mills Contact: --------------- Suggested Reading |
