Recently several visitors to our discussion forum have shared some ideas for creating inexpensive, homemade Halloween costumes.
"Aubra" shared the following ideas for Pokemon costumes.
- Picachu and Squirtle
I'd just make a strechy suit add a hood with the ear things on top. The turtle (Squirtle) one might not be too hard. Just a green top and bottom with a cardboard shell. - Psyduck
Psyduck would be the easiest of all. A yellow sweat suit (with hood) a felt tail and an orange beak. - Pokeball
You could get a ball of styrofoam from the craft store and make a Poke-ball for one of them to carry (so people know what they are). - Trainer
Is your oldest willing to go with his little brothers? It would look cute if he was the Trainer.
From "Pathfinder":
- Any of those Chubby little poke monsters could be acheived through a Drawstring suit. If your little one were small enough a recycled pillow case would do. Cut holes for legs and arms, sew off the Corners and add a draw string to the existing hem. You can poof up the costume with fiber fill from an old pillow .Dye the Bag suit any color , decorate with felt, markers or fabric paint. Appropriate head gear, Cover an old cap with matching color and add ears.
From Audreyliz:
- Many Pokemon costumes can be made by using the pattern for a pumpkin costume. The only pattern I know of that is explicity Pokemon is Pikachu, so you have to get creative. For example, I am making Jigglypuff with McCall's Pumpkin costume. You simply make it pink instead of orange, change the appliques for the face, and attach ears at the shoulders and a little pink curl in the front. Very cute! You can do many characters this way! Have fun!
