Baking Soda Cleaning Tips

I was cleaning my aunt's house (she went to a nursing home), someone turned off the refrigerator for a few days and there was chicken in the freezer...I tried everything to get rid of the odor, I finally used baking soda on a sponge along with a container of baking soda in both the freezer and the refrigerator and it was the only thing that neutralized the odor which had filled the whole house.
