In Part 1 of cleaning with baking soda, I asked readers to submit their tips using baking soda. I received a tremendous amount of great hints and tips; thanks to everyone who submitted.
Reader's Tips:
- Here is a little thing my son Thomas has been doing for a few years with baking soda. While playing with his trucks and cars, especially any truck with a plow on it; he uses the baking soda for snow. We just place some on a baking sheet and pretents to be a snowplower. And now when my Grandchildren come over and play with the trucks they always ask for some "snow". And clean up is no problem!
- I was cleaning my aunt's house (she went to a nursing home),someone turned off the refrigerator for a few days and there was chicken in the freezer...I tried everything to get rid of the odor, I finally used baking soda on a sponge along with a container of baking soda in both the freezer and the refrigerator and it was the only thing that neutralized the odor which had filled the whole house.
More Cleaning Tips - Sprinkle baking soda on the bottom and then lightly on the top of cat litter when changing the litter box to help eliminate odor problems. I do this every time the litter box is changed in my house.
More Deodorizing Tips - To remove rust stains from counter tops, etc, cut a fresh lemon in half and sprinkle on a little baking soda and scrub the spot. Voila! It comes off!
- At least 2 teaspoons full of baking soda in luke warm bath water helps for chicken pox. It soothes the itchy spots.
