My daughter Kerrie, 13 has been asking when I would allow her to wear makeup. I told her I would think about it and let her know when and what I would allow her to wear. Being her Mom I don't think she needs to wear any. - Maureen

I don't really have any answers. My daughter is only 11. She's played with make up before but the rule has always been at home only. I think it will depend on when she starts asking. I think lip gloss at 13 is sufficient. Maybe 15 for more than that. - Beth
Our rule here is in high school. Sarah started wearing makeup this school year (she's in 10th grade). I have had to get onto her about how much she apply's, but for the most part, Sarah gets it right now. Rachel is just now taking an interest in it (she's in the 9th grade). - Robin
Maybe over the next year or so she could experiment with some light shades of eyeshadow. Just remind her that makeup is meant to enhance natural beauty, not to cover it up. I see many young girls just learning to apply make-up whose face you hardly recognize. All you notice is the bright make-up.
And as the mother of two teenage boys, my experience has been that boys do not like a lot of makeup. I have heard many jokes about girls who look like clowns. There have been times I've wanted to call mothers of girls and let them in on how boys are talking about their daughter. - Sharon
