I use Baking Soda to keep my drains clean. I drop 1/2 cup in my sink every night and wash down with warm water.
Baking soda is also good if you have a septic tank. I use 1 cup in my toilet at least once a week.
In a Stainless Steel sink add 1/2 cup baking soda to 1 gal of water and dip silver in water and wipe with sponge to remove tarnish. Works great! No more cleaning with silver polish.
I sprinkle baking soda on my carpet before I wash it. Then I use very little soap in my carpet cleaning machine. On heavy traffic areas I will either sprinkle more or even scrubb the baking soda in before using the machine.
Burnt on food. Sprinkle baking soda on burnt on food and add water boil on stove, slow boil. Continue until all burnt has boiled off of bottom of pan.
Baking soda is great for removing dried food from the inside of your microwave. Place a bowl filled with water and some baking soda in your microwave and cook it on high for about 1 minute. Then you can easily wipe the dried food off with a sponge - no scrubbing or soaking required.
Baking Soda is Excellent for removing stains from insulated thermoses. The secret is to sprinkle the baking soda in first (amount depends on amount of stain) and then add *boiling water* and slosh around! The stain comes off instantly without any labor!
To clean drains, put into drain one-half cup of baking soda and add one-half cup of vinegar. Let sit for 10 minutes and then add boiling water.
It also helps for cleaning brass door knobs, window handles and ornaments.
1. In the "olden days" we would make an emulsion (Thick liquid) of baking soda and water to remove corrosion from automobile battery cables. Paint it on and leave a thick layer. wait 5-10 minutes and flush with water.
2. When a "sick" battery has ground down to dead, pour a teaspoonful of baking soda in each fill hole. Drink a slow cup of coffee, and try starting again. Sometimes it revives just enough to start the car. Then get a new battery. Not recommended for "healthy" batteries with a temporary problem.

I use baking soda to scrub plastic items like "Tupperware" when they age and develop that "sticky' or "tacky" feeling. The baking soda restores a smooth and bright appearance.
Baking soda can remove crayon from laundry. I washed and dryed a load of whites with a black crayon! I thought the clothes were ruined, but I was told to put 1 C. baking soda in the wash and rewash the whole load again. IT WORKED!
I was surprised, but very thankful :)
