This Christmas bread recipe makes 4 loaves so you can give some to your friends or family.
Prep Time: 8 minutes
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 pkg yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110-115degrees)
- 4 cup bread flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cold BUTTER
- 1/2 cup solid shortening
- 2 eggs lightly beaten
- 4 cups cherry pie filling( I used 2 cans and just divided it into 4's)
Preparation:
Dissolve yeast in warm milk. In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in butter and shortening until crumbly. Add to yeast mixture. Add eggs and beat to form soft dough. Do not knead. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours.Divide cold dough into four pieces; roll each into 14" x 11" on lightly floured surface. Spread filling down center third of dough; fold the sides over and seal. Seal ends and tuck under. Place 2" apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350 for 25 minutes until golden. Cool and top with icing made from 2 cups powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons milk. Freezes well. - Lynn, forum member
