My kids loved these cold, even. These only need 3 ingredients and you can use mild chilis or hot; it's up to you.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 package of large Chinese wonton wraps
- 1-2 Cans of whole green chilies-choose how hot you want them!
- Cheddar cheese or Monterey jack cheese
- Oil for frying
Preparation:
Open the can of chilies and slice the chilies open-remove seeds and rinse-slice cheese into small slice that will nestle inside of the chilis. Lay 1 of the cheese slices inside chilies and fold the chili around the cheese. Then take one wonton and place the cheese wrapped chili in the middle. Take a pastry brush or your finger and wet the edges of the wonton with water and then fold over and seal the edges making a little envelope.Heat a rather large pan, wok, deep-fat fryer with enough oil to cover the wontons. Very gently, using a slotted spoon, lower the wontons into the oil. Fry until they are nice and golden brown; this doesn't take very long.
They are very hot when they come out.
Top with your favorite salsa, sour cream, cheese, whatever you like on your Mexican food. - Marsha Sue, forum member
