Buy Off-Season Plants

From About.com

I live in the south where it can get VERY hot. When Wal-Mart puts plants such as roses on sale because they are out of season, I am there to pick them up. Generally I can get 10 dollar plants for 2 dollars or even 50 cents! To keep the plants from drying out, I simply re-use milk bottles, cans and even soda bottles to trickle irrigate my new finds; near the base of the container poke a hole with a small finishing nail, then fill the contain with water and set near the plant. Just remember to leave off the lid or the trick won't work. This way I waste less water, but salvage expensive plants!
