Clothes Swap

From , former About.com Guide

I have 2 children, and one way my friends and I have found to cut the cost of clothes is to have a "swap" meet. Everyone gets together, brings the clothes that their family has outgrown, and we exchange them. It's also a great time for Moms to get together.

This exchange concept also works well for canning, baking and even "chore exchanges." For example, I hate to sew, but I am great at planning birthday parties, cooking for large crowds and gardening, so I am only too happy to trade my skills for having my sewing done by someone who doesn't need bandaids every time they thread a needle.
