Grandma's Shepherds Pie

From About.com

This easy version of shepherd's pie has corn; you can use ground beef or mild ground sausage.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef, browned
  • 1 or 2 cans corn, drained
  • 5 or 6 potatoes, peeled, boiled, and mashed with milk and butter

Preparation:

Put the meat in the bottom of a casserole dish or Dutch oven. Add corn on top of meat. Add mashed potatoes on top, making sure the potatoes touch the sides of the dish all around. Bake 1 hour at 350.

I sometimes substitute a pound of the mild sausage that comes in a roll instead of the ground beef.

My husband likes it with creamed corn instead of plain corn. - Debbie
