Quebec Stew

From About.com

This tasty stew has beef, veal and chicken.

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

  • chicken
  • 1 onion
  • salt, pepper
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices
  • half of a small bag of brown flour
  • 3 tablespoons Corn Starch
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground veal

Preparation:

Cook the chicken with the onion (not cut), salt and pepper in water (a bit more than to cover). Let boil until the chicken is fully cooked. Keep chicken and water but throw away onion.

In the same water (add if necessary), add the spices. Mix the flour in some other water until you have a very thick paste. Add to the previous water and mix very well. Add some corn starch in a bowl and add cold water to thicken. Stir very well to the juice. Put on fire to medium until you make the meatballs.

MEAT BALLS
Mix all the meat together very well and make very strong balls. Turn the meatballs in some brown flour. Once they're all made, add them to the juice and let boil for about 45 minutes. Then add chicken. Turn off the burner.

You can serve this with potatoes (mashed or not). - Danielle
