Homemade strawberry ice for your ice cream maker is a nice alternative to ice cream for your family on a hot summer day. This recipe is for a 6-quart ice cream maker.

Prep Time: 3 hours

Ingredients:

  • 3 quarts strawberries, fresh or frozen (thawed)
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 cups water

Preparation:

Puree the strawberries in a food processor or blender. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the pureed strawberries and the sugar. Let this stand for about 2 hours at room temperature.

Add the lemon juice and water to the strawberry mixture. Pour into your ice cream can. Refrigerate, covered, for half an hour.

Freeze according to manufacturer's instructions or see How To Use A Rival Ice Cream Maker.
