I usually end up buying pre-made pie crusts, but here is an easy recipe for homemade pie crust if you want to make your own crust.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup crisco (solid shortening)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons water

PREPARATION:

To mix, you mix the flour and salt together. Then you blend this with the crisco using a pastry blender or two butter knives held together. This mixture gets crumblier and when it looks like the mix is the size of peas, you add the liquid and stir with a fork. If it is still crumbly add some more water to get it to roll into a ball.

Use half for one crust. If you are not an expert at rolling out crust, use saran wrap(ok) or wax paper(best). To do this, take a piece of wrap bigger then pie pan and sprinkle with flour. Place the dough ball and flatten with your hand and then roll with the rolling pin dusted with flour or use another layer of wax paper on top(for beginners) Roll it to the right circumference.

Remove top layer of wax paper if you used it and place pie pan over the flattened dough and slip your hand under the the wrap paper flip it right into the pan and remove paper. Use kitchen shears or knife to trim your crust and then pinch. - Freshprints
