Take Advantage of Clean-Up Days

From About.com

I take advantage of our local Clean-Up days. Twice a year, spring and fall, we are allowed to put whatever we want on the curb. My husband and I, along with several others, go on a massive treasure hunt. We take the items we find to a flea market, or we just have a yard sale. I pay my house taxes and home owners insurance with the money every year.

The people are great, too. We have even had people approach us to help them carry their larger items to our truck. (Some towns will advertise NO SCAVAGERING, but they are only worried about those who dig through things and leave the curb a mess.) We only take items that are in plain view. - Submitted by Shelli
