Save on Winter Clothes

From About.com

Our family lives in British Columbia, and every winter we only get one or two severe snow storms; it rains the rest of the time.

To save money and not end up buying new snow clothes for 3 kids every winter my husband and I shop at the thrift stores. We have outfitted the children every winter for about $50; compare that to buying new outfits every winter for 1 or 2 wears. When the kids grow out of the snow clothes I simply put them in the donation bin at church so someone else can use them also. Some of the clothes are next to new; you just have to be very patient and diligent. - Submitted by Carolyn
