Getting Around this Site
Dateline: 06/15/97This week I will show you how to easily explore the rest of The Mining Company.

Clicking on this logo will instantly return you to The Mining Company's Homepage.
A very useful button, you can press this if you get "lost" and you will return to the first page of this site. This is also an alternative to hitting the "back" button on your browser if you want to return to my first page after exploring several links.
The chat rooms and bulletin boards are coming in the future!
This is a calendar, with some special announcements specific to this site. For example, I will announce upcoming new features or special events related to parenting. If you know of an upcoming event you think I should include here, please email me with the information. 
Another very useful button, you can search just this site, using keywords such as "self-esteem". You can also search for another Mining Company site, by entering the name of the site you are looking for, such as "homeschooling."
The sitemap button will show you all the different sites available under the "Living" section of The Mining Company.

The three drop-down menus:
- Areas of General Interest
This is a list of all 13 general interest areas found in The Mining Company.
- Sections
This menu shows you all of the other areas within the "Living" section.
- Other Mining Company sites
This menu will list the other parenting sites in the "Living" section.
Hints and Tips
- When you are ready to explore another parenting site, you simply use the second
pull-down menu and click on parenting. You will be taken to a page that contains summaries of
all the parenting related sites. You can then link from that page to any other parenting-related site.
Linking to other Sites from About.com
Since The Mining Company uses frames, it is a little different than bookmarking pages outside of a framed site. The following information comes from About.com's help page. This bookmarking method works on any other Internet site that uses frames! (I always wondered how to make bookmarks within frames.)
- Netscape with Windows - Click the right mouse button on the page you want to bookmark. Select "Add Bookmark" from the pop-up menu
of choices that appears.
- Netscape with Macintosh - Click and hold the mouse on the frame you
want to bookmark. Select "New Window" from the pop-up menu that
appears, then select "Add Bookmark" from the Bookmark menu. Then
close the window.
- Internet Explorer with Windows - Click the right mouse button on the
frame you want to bookmark. Select "Add to Favorites" from the
pop-up menu of choices that appears. The URL of the content you
selected will be added to your bookmark list.
- Internet Explorer with Macintosh - Click and hold the mouse on the frame you want to bookmark. Select "New Window" from the pop-up menu that appears, then select "Add Bookmark" from the Bookmark menu. Then close the window.
